Description
KNDS France has spoken of its hope of encouraging exports of its 40 CTA turret which has been marketed in both manned and unmanned versions for different user requirements.
Speaking to Shephard at Eurosatory 2024 in Paris, sources indicated that one potential market would be the Middle East where both Kuwait and Qatar could be interested in the turret, with the platform being the ARTEC Boxer (8x8) Multi-Role Armoured Vehicle (MRAV) potentially from the UK production line which has been ramping up.
The 40 CTA turret leverages from the two-person turret installed on the Jaguar Armoured Reconnaissance and Combat Vehicle (EBRC) now in service with the French Army and on order for Belgium.

Both turrets have been armed with the CTAI 40mm Cased Telescope Armament (CTA) which in addition to being in service with the French Army is also in service with the French Navy and the British Army on the Ajax tracked reconnaissance vehicle.
An unusual feature of the all-digital turret is that it does not have a co-axial machine gun (MG) but is instead fitted with a roof-mounted remote weapon station armed with a 7.62mm or 12.7mm MG which can be aligned with the 40mm CTA or used independently.
The example displayed at the Parc des Expositions de Villepinte was fitted with a pod of two anti-tank guided weapons which are usually selected by the end user.
It can also be fitted with banks of smoke grenades and an acoustic gunfire detector.
The market for turrets, their associated medium-calibre cannon and their suites of ammunition is highly competitive, but KNDS France has claimed it could supply complete turrets competitively.
