On February 10, 2022, the President of Mexico announced his plan to establish a state-owned company called "Olmeca-Maya-Mexica," to manage several Mexican airports. The construction or renovation of all the projects mentioned by the president had previously been assigned to the Army. On April 13 of that year, the resolution establishing the company was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation.
